It was really something special to see the women’s team become the story of the London Games. When we met the team they were training in Salt Lake City in preparation of the London Olympics which was still a couple of weeks away.
The team was training at the University Of Utah. On our way to a morning practice session – I was reminded that Salt Lake city hosted its own Olympic Games just a decade ago.
Women’s National Team captain Christine Sinclair. I wasn’t surprised that Sinclair became a star of the London Games for Canada – and the eventual flag-bearer during the closing ceremonies. When we interviewed @Sincy12 – I could see she had fire in her eyes and was anxious for the BIG stage of the Olympics. Sinclair would go on to have one of the greatest performances ever for a Canadian athlete in an Olympic Games.
Diana Matheson would go on to score a very big goal for Canada – the bronze medal winner over France.
